Sometimes I forget to stop only looking at the biggest picture, or listening to the loudest sound. I made myself very proud the other day when I was listening to a Chiodos song. I've heard the song plenty of times, and could sing along with almost all the words, but if I heard someone playing an instrumental part from it, I doubt I would recognize it. So, I stopped listening to the words completely, and focused on picking out individual instruments and following them through at least fifteen seconds. I was surprised I could do it.
Then today I was looking through an old friend's photography, and I realized that I haven't looked at and really appreciated the little things about anything for a little while. Do you know how disappointing that is to someone who used to be able to call up many teeny tiny details about different scenes in her life? I'll tell you: it's very disappointing.
